PPCRV, Rotary collaborate for clean pollsMANILA, November 28, 2009—The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and Rotary Philippines have joined forces for the coming national and local elections on May 10, 2010. Early yesterday, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati for a clean “May 2010 Synchronized National and Local elections.” PPCRV is the accredited citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) which is tasked to monitor the process of the elections and educate voters. Rotary Philippines, on the other hand, is involving itself in political advocacy for the first time through its non-partisan project dubbed as RVote. RVote is an advocacy for voters’ education and responsible citizenship. It aims to empower the people and the transformative role of the youth to spearhead the “rebirth and renewal” of the country.
