Internet Revolution and Youth

Five years ago, asking a colleague or friend for an e-mail address was a hit-or-miss proposition. Today, it rarely misses. Just like the inventions preceding cell phones, automobiles, airplanes, radios, TVs et cetera—the Internet was met first with disdain, then with widespread acceptance. Its presence has increased at a much greater rate than any other new technology—and there’s no end in sight.

For youth, Internet awareness is of utmost importance—because it’s our youth who’re making it so popular. The ’Net is a way of life for the great majority of them. And succeeding generations will consider the world you and I grew up in—without broadband and instant messages—crusty as the Stone Age.
