National Signis India Executive Meet

The National SIGNIS INDIA Executive met on 7 May 2010 at Media Commission, Yusuf Sadan, Archbishop's House, Goldak Khana, Ashok Road, New Delhi. President Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai chaired the sessions. At the outset he thanked all the Office Bearer’s for their presence for the meeting. He in a special way thanked CBCI Social Communication Commission for their collaboration and inspiration for the SIGNIS INDIA team to plan and initiate new ways that will go long way in penetrating into secular media.
There was a serious concern on the issue of bringing young and professional lay people into the organization. There was also suggestion to organize media training programs for the SIGNIS regional zones.read more »

The Signis India secretary/treasurer Fr. John Paul svd, and new elected secretary/treasurer Fr. Norbert Herman svd, with Signis staff Mr. Daniel/ Mr. Tency met Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Pathalil, Bishop of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Fr. John Paul briefed him about the functioning of Signis India and he was delighted to help the organization.

Plight of Christians in Orissa

INDIA’S north-eastern state Orissa continues to be in grip of gory anti-Christian riots. Scores of Christians, including some nuns have been burnt alive. Countless churches, houses and shops have been gutted. Even Christian orphanages have not been spared. To justify massacre of hapless Christians, Hindus spread the canard that eminent Hindu leader, Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, had been killed by Christians on Saturday night. Kandhamal district was the epicentre of the communal riots. Most of the Christians were killed there.read more »

The Christians in the State of Orissa are living in tension and fear. The law and order is not at their rescue and they are living in pathetic conditions for the last 72 hours. The houses, Churches and prayer halls have to be rebuilt and faith restored in the hearts of innocent Christians. read more »
